Enthusiasm
On Sunday 30th September
we have a visit by Enthusiasm from Derby. Enthusiasm
is working in partnership with Charis and is looking
to establish their youth exclusion work in Clifton.
Neil now works for Enthusiasm 2 days each week
with the plan to set up a base here. It is led
by a Christian team and we look forward to a great
morning with them.
Baptisms
Our next Baptisms
will take place on Sunday 7th October during our
Sunday gathering.
Season
of Prayer
Three times each year
we encourage people to set time aside to pray,
fast and seek God. Our third season for 2007 will
be held over 7th - 8th October. Public prayer takes
place Sunday at 6.30pm, Monday at 11.00am and 7.00pm.
City
Church Celebration
Our next Celebration
will take place on Sunday 21st October at 6.30pm
at Christian Centre. The Speaker will be Donovan
Coetzee from South Africa. Donovan is team leader
for a large number of South African Assemblies
of God Churches. Donovan will also be speaking
to our churches in the morning via DVD.
Guest
Testimony
On Sunday 11th November
at 10.30am we have a special guest testimony from
Kevin Langham. Many years ago Kevin was delivered
from alcoholism and his testimony has been an inspiration
to hundreds of people over the years. His is a
great story and one not to be missed!
An
Evening Ten Pin Bowling
We are planning an
evening ten pin bowling for everyone who would
like to come along - either to play or watch! Please
see Joanne Ellingham for further details.

- an evening of worship and ministry
We are holding an
evening of worship and ministry on Sunday 18th
November from 6.30pm. This is a joint evening with
St Francis Church and time will be given to worship
and ministry from the Spirit along with an opportunity
to receive personal prayer.
The
Big Breakfast: Have you got the stomach for
it?
On Saturday 24th November
at 9.00 am to 10.30 am. Cost £2.00. We will
be serving full English breakfast.
A great chance for the guys to get together to
eat and chat. Stephen will lead an informal discussion
on the subject: ‘Will the real men please
stand up!’
Thessalonians
- Lessons from the Apostle Paul
The next teaching
session at Charis is based on Paul’s letters
to the Thessalonians. The main sessions will be
given at our Sunday gatherings with opportunity
to follow this up in small groups and online in
our new Forum.
We will be using Max Lucado’s book ‘1 & 2
Thessalonians’ to provide the foundation
for this series and you can purchase your own copy
to follow along either at Charis or online from
Amazon.
Charis:
Explore
We have recently added
a new section to the website called Charis: Explore.
The aim of this is to provide an interactive area
where people can explore and discuss life and faith.
We are starting off small but hope that this are
will become an important part of the site. At present
you can read and comment on Stephen’s blog,
download podcasts from the Sunday talks, link up
with others on the Facebook network and log onto
to the forum. If you have not taken a look in a
while then please check it out at www.charislife.org.uk
and follow the link from the home page.
Church
Away Weekend
We are planning a
weekend away from 4th to 6th April 2008 at Cloverley
Hall in Shropshire. The cost is £68.50 per
person plus transport costs and includes all accommodation
and food. If you are interested in coming along
